Having a baby is one of the most life-altering experiences a woman can have, but after the baby arrives, we’re often left with major physically-altering changes as well!

Post-baby body issues aren’t just for the girl-next-door. Even the stars have to struggle, as Gwyneth Paltrow recently revealed in an interview with  the Press Association (PA). It’s normal for a woman to gain about 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. It’s also normal for it to take 3 months to a year to lose your “baby fat”.

Read on to find out what Ms. Paltrow has to say about her experience beating the baby weight, and some FIT tips for you to do the same!

Gwyneth says that the hardest thing she ever had to do was to lose the “lbs” she gained with her second pregnancy . As frustrating as it was, she stuck to a simple, and effective plan: exercise.

Every woman can make time – every woman – and you can do it with your baby in the room,” she told the PA. She is a working actress, blogger, mom, wife, community activist, and spokeswoman. I think it’s safe to say that if she can do it, most of us can too.

While her impressive 2 hour daily workouts might not always be feasible, there are plenty of ways to create time to dedicate to working on your body and your health. Get up an hour earlier.Do lunges (shown) and squats (shown) while holding your baby. “There’ve been countless times where I’ve worked out with my kids crawling around all over the place. You just make it work, and if it’s important to you, it’ll be important to them.“, Gwyneth explains.

Need a little guidance or inspiration? After getting clearance from your doctor, do like Ms. Paltrow and work out with a trainer who is certified in pre and post natal fitness. Better yet, work out with hers! Celebrity trainer, Tracy Anderson, will work you through serious sweat-sessions in the  Tracy Anderson Post-Pregnancy Workout.

Do your best to eat clean, drink plenty of water, and watch your portion sizes. Combine that with cardio, weight training, and as much rest as you can squeeze in, and you will feel and look healthy and happy. Above all, be patient! Your body just took nine months to create a whole new being! Stick to your plan, and enjoy the journey. Remember, hard work always pays off, especially when you are trying to get FIT.
